Our Story

FDI Africa was established in response to a growing continental need: young Africans seeking principled leadership, civic knowledge, and practical pathways to influence governance and public life.

The Institute serves as a Pan‑African platform for leadership development, policy research, and civic education rooted in African values and lived realities, global democratic norms and best practices, evidence‑based policy solutions, and youth engagement and intergenerational leadership.

Headquartered in Accra, Ghana, FDI Africa operates programs and partnerships across the continent, working to build a future where freedom, accountability, and good governance are not abstract ideals but practical requirements for prosperity, social cohesion, and long-term national stability.

Founder's Message

"Africa's future will be determined not only by economic growth, but by the quality of its leadership and the strength of its democratic institutions. FDI Africa exists to nurture leaders who understand their responsibility to serve the public good, strengthen institutions, and safeguard democratic values."

Founder's Bio

Kwaku Osei Asare is a Ghanaian legal practitioner and corporate lawyer with deep expertise in commercial, corporate, labour, finance, and transactional law. He is a Partner at HB&O Legal, advising boards, corporate entities, and investors on complex transactions and risk management matters.

Sefa Ewurama Gohoho-Boatin - CEO
CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER
Sefa Gohoho‑Boatin

Sefa Ewurama Gohoho‑Boatin is a Ghanaian entrepreneur, cultural economist, and creative economy leader. She is the Founder of Untamed Empire, a leading creative business incubator in Ghana, and co-founded Arela Chemicals, a sustainability-driven enterprise.

A graduate of the London School of Economics, she champions cultural preservation and intellectual property initiatives. As CEO of FDI Africa, she applies her entrepreneurial expertise to governance, promoting accountable institutions and civic engagement.

Sarah Mills Amo - COO
CHIEF OPERATING OFFICER
Sarah Mills Amo

Sarah Mills Amo is a public-sector and mission-driven leader with over 15 years of experience building institutions across Africa, the Middle East, and Europe. She specializes in strengthening governance, democratic systems, and women's economic participation.

She is the Founder of the SONA Initiative, a program supporting women-led SMEs, and has held senior operational roles with One Boundary Co, General Electric, and Vodafone Ghana. As COO, she oversees institutional strategy and programs that advance accountable institutions and democratic participation.
